Memorandum    November 19, 2010

From: Daryl Fenton, Canon for Provincial Mission
To: Rectors and priests of the Anglican Church in North America

Dear friends,

I write to make you aware of two opportunities that may be of use to you and your parish.

The first is time and country sensitive. For those of us serving in the U.S., the Thanksgiving holiday is fast approaching. Archbishop Robert has prepared a video greeting that you are invited to watch and download. Please feel free to share it with your parish on either of the upcoming Sundays. It will not be posted on the website until after the Thanksgiving holiday (November 25).

I want to apologize to all of our Canadian leadership. Next year we will be have a greeting completed in time for Canadian Thanksgiving.

Secondly, wherever we serve all of us are more than aware of the need for sexual awareness training to keep the people and children of our parishes safe. The Anglican Church in North America has a very fine task force for Risk Assessment. They have spent the last year exploring and vetting the training programs available for use by parishes and dioceses. They have now secured a relationship with one provider, MinistrySafe®. You can find details about the program here:

I hasten to add that the worksheets and checklists cited in the article and developed by the task force can be very helpful to vestries. The other insurance and benefits programs described in the article (health, retirement, life and disability) were equally well chosen. You will find a list of contacts with links and telephone numbers clearly listed at the bottom of the article. I know each of these people personally, and am confident they will be helpful and responsive people with whom to work.

Faithfully in Christ,
